My Core Motivation

This begins with scientific curiosity, exploring the unanswered questions that govern biological systems and considering how those discoveries can improve human and environmental health. But discovery is only part of the journey; I believe knowledge finds its greatest value when it is shared, which fuels my commitment to teaching and mentorship. Ultimately, my work is guided by a larger question: how can science, education, and service help build a healthier, more peaceful, and prosperous world?
Science
My research is centered in molecular microbiology, where I investigate fundamental processes governing bacterial cell biology, physiology, and development. My broader interests span environmental microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, bioinformatics, and computational biology.

My academic work spans the classroom and the laboratory. I teach across microbiology, molecular genetics, molecular biology, and bioinformatics while mentoring researchers in experimental practice, scientific reasoning, and data interpretation.
